Monumental Pre-Columbian Nayarit Warrior over 26" tall
Mexico, Nayarit region, ca. 300 BCE/CE. Huge and showy pottery standing figure of a nude male warrior. Squarish body with short arms extended to the side, one holding a small weapon. His face shows individually incised teeth, triple set of earrings, white headband.
Figure stands an imposing 26" H x 16" W.
Condition: Repaired from 4 large pieces, tip of three toes restored along with top edge of club.
Provenance: Ex-private LA collection acquired at David Stuart Gallery in the 1970's.
