Nayarit Pottery Seated Male and Female Couple (2)
West Mexico, Ixlan Del Rio, Ca. 200 BC to 300 AD.A lovely pair of figures molded in red clay with remains of painted slip highlights. One holds a bowl, the other a ball, both with similar facial features including circular eyes, ornamented noses, and open mouths.
They are ornately decorated in slip pigments and have ear clips, nose ornaments and headdresses.
